Description

The goal of the Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (HRM & LR) program, formerly known as the M.A. in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, is to prepare students to meet the demands of the corporate world with the necessary professional competence and social awareness. The program examines the important facets of modern human resources management, together with a thorough knowledge and comprehension of the fundamental managerial and commercial operations.

The main goals of this M.A. program are to increase students' awareness of the social, political, economic, and ecological contexts of society; to empower students to become effective business leaders and decision-makers to contribute to organizational effectiveness; to facilitate the use of systems thinking among the students to evolve possibilities while addressing various personal and organizational challenges; to foster the development of a global perspective among students to reconsider the world from a variety of perspectives; and to foster the development of critical thinking skills among students.

The curriculum emphasizes both academic and practical learning. While the emphasis during classroom learning is on conceptual clarity through participation in the forms of discussions and case studies, presentations, simulation games, assignments, etc., practical inputs are provided through the rigorous fieldwork system, which supports the classroom inputs by illuminating the practical aspect of the profession. Students gain conceptual strength and professional achievement from the lessons learned from such an event. Additionally, students must finish a dissertation on a subject of their choosing. Personal learning is highly effective due to all of these factors, as well as the focused attention that students receive because of the small batch size. The goal of fieldwork, which is an ongoing activity, is to increase students' exposure to different industry sectors. Additionally, students participate in internships with organizations for a duration of 6 to 8 weeks, which is viewed as a chance for the student to learn a lot from and contribute considerably to organizations. In short, the M.A. in HRM & LR curriculum is a demanding teaching-learning experience that combines cutting edge theory with innovative practice to prepare business leaders for the global industry. It benefits from almost 4 decades of teaching and research in the same field. The TISS HRM & LR post-graduates are currently among the most in-demand professionals worldwide.A wide range of businesses and sectors, including IT/ITeS, banking and finance, telecom, manufacturing, public sector, pharmaceutical, retail, and management consultancy, are represented by the leadership roles they hold.
